About $100 overpriced...

Tried out a Quinny Yezz at the NY Baby Show and was very excited! We've been looking for a truly lightweight stroller to use in NYC (going into and out of subways) and this looked like it had potential.It is a very simple and straightforward stroller -- no recline, no storage, quick(ish) fold, modest canopy. With its inline skate wheels, it is a step above the $20 cheap umbrella strollers that you can pick up just about anywhere. The folding mechanism is one-handed, but not exactly easy -- the stroller often gets stuck as you try to fold it down. But when it is folded, it is about the size, area-wise, of a hiking backpack (without the depth) and about as heavy. The integrated shoulder strap makes it very easy to throw over your shoulder when going into and out of the subway, but at nearly 12 lbs, it is still quite a load to tote on top of a diaper bag and toddler (they advertise it as 11 lbs, but I was told 11.5 lbs, and it was just a little over 11.5 lbs when I weighed it).When we drove it on the test track at the baby show, we found the stroller was an extremely bumpy ride -- better than an umbrella stroller, but a lot less smooth than the Micralite Superlite we already own (Micralite is 14.5 lbs and LOTS of problems that the manufacturer doesn't take care of, despite a 5 year warranty!) and certainly less smooth than the Stokke Xplory we own for walking around the city (the Xplory is very heavy and impossible to fold down for use on public transportation; it takes about 3-5 min to disassemble Xplory, and you'd need a large car trunk for the two pieces). The Yezz was also not as easy to steer as either of our other two strollers, even though all three strollers are the same type of 4-wheel formation with narrow set wheels in front and wide set wheels in back.The fabric seems sturdy and should be breathable. You can pretty easily switch out the color, too, should you decide you want some variation (replacement seats run about $60).This is really a bare bones stroller, and is basically a luxury version of an umbrella stroller, but not as heavy nor feature-full as a MacLaren (which our friends own and we've used -- a MacLaren just has more storage available, and is better balanced than the Yezz).Overall, I would recommend the Yezz to other parents ONLY if it were priced closer to the umbrella strollers that it ranks above. At up to $169, this would be a recommended product. At $179, we're getting a little pricey. At $269 or $279, I would tell you to pass and, instead, just pick up umbrella strollers as you need them. You can buy up to 14 of those for the same price, and donate them all when you're done!UPDATE: Took the Yezz out to test it on a real NYC day with the toddler.*I have to say that the maneuverability is MUCH better than how it tested at the Baby Show. The inline wheels glide very easily on the city sidewalks, and turns on a dime. The front wheels to tend to get away from you, though, and will take off down any incline, so beware.*There is a lot of vibration on this stroller. I have RA and the constant vibration from this stroller made my hands go numb after about 5 mins.*The open and closing mechanism was a problem for us all day. Even after it clicked closed, the stroller opened when I had it swung over my shoulder and we were going down the subway stairs. I heard a click and the stroller opened up, hitting my head as well as the person behind me, while I was holding my toddler's hand and toting a diaper bag backpack. It was pretty dangerous. Then when we got home, the stroller would not fold closed! It took me about 10 minutes, and then it clicked and closed.We were very frustrated with this stroller today and will give it one more test drive, just to make sure our final verdict is indeed the final verdict.
