5Great value, a real workhorse!
By W. P. Voltz
My husband and I looked at dozens of strollers from $60 up to $1000. With all the great, safe options on the lower end of the price range we decided early on that we weren't going for broke when it came to a stroller or carseat. After reading as many reviews on the Graco Alano that we could find, we took the plunge. We're so glad we did.My husband assembled it with no problem--I helped, but since he's the one with a design degree I gladly let him take over! We've had it two months and yes--we've used it many, many times with the baby in it--I'm always baffled by reviewers who review something when they haven't really used it yet! The car seat was super easy to install, and we took our little one home from the hospital in it. The whole system is rather lightweight compared to other models (I checked out the Quattro and thought no way I'm hoisting that in and out of the car all day long!) I can actually lift the Alano over curbs while our (now 10 lb) baby is in it, and it's no problem to get it into the trunk space of our Ford Escape. It's very easy to grasp and the weight is well distributed. I love to walk and it handles amazingly well, especially considering that New Orleans has some of the worst "sidewalks" in the country. The Alano just glides over everything...I walked her in it after Hurricane Isaac and had no problems. The breaks are great and it's comfortable to push (and my hands never cramp or get sweaty). Another plus is that the tires aren't inflatable, so no worries about a flat. It handles rain well--the car seat and stroller have interlocking covers that form what I call my baby's "nuclear protection shield." Same thing for sun--we have an intense UV index here and a very pale baby, and that's one of the main reasons why I chose this. Ventilation seems good--she has gotten a little sweaty once or twice, but when it's literally 98 degrees out you can't help it. The "viewing" window isn't the greatest, but it's very easy to lift the cover with one hand if you want to take a peek at your baby. Whenever I do, she always seems happy.A few other features I absolutely love are the parent console and the storage basket on the bottom. The console fits everything I need at arms's reach--cell phone, keys, two water bottles, even my "doggie" bags (I actually like walking the dog better with this stroller--it's so much easier to store his stuff too:-). The basket fits a TON, including my giant Keith Haring diaper bag, blankets, groceries--you name it. My husband is 6'2", I'm 5'6" and both of us can push the stroller just fine without bumping or kicking it. I've even gone over a few nasty puddles with the Alano and my stuff has stayed dry, so it must be positioned at just the right height. As for cleaning, some parts of the stroller fabric are removable for washing while others aren't. It's a synthetic material so it repels liquids well and is easy to clean. For the non-machine washable parts, the instructions say to wipe with a damp cloth. When needed, I've just wiped it down with a homemade cleaner of water, baby soap and a dash of essential oil (I was thrilled to find that the straps for the car seat didn't stain after being subjected to formula spit-up!).Now onto the things that I'd like to see modified (I wouldn't really call them cons, just features that show room for improvement). The car seat is cavernous for infants, which is probably to be expected. Her head would bend to the side and there was no support. We remedied that with a Kiddopotamous liner (I think they call it a "snuzzler"). They're about $20 and well worth it, not just for the support but also for the fact that they're easy to remove and toss in the washer if need be. Next, the stroller seat doesn't fully recline. It's not that big of a deal and the great features far outweigh this small detail but it would be nice. And last, I think that the form of this stroller is in line with modern design but the colors are rather dated. They will probably never stain and are definitely easy to keep clean, but gray and green plaid remind me a bit too much of the early 90s (my husband and I have taken to calling it the "grunge stroller"). Not a reason to deter me from buying the system, but more variety would be nice. All in all though, this stroller is great and I'd recommend it to anyone in a heartbeat!By the way, I know how much stuff is out there and how much effort discerning new moms put into shopping for baby gear. I also know what it's like to be sleep-starved and find the product that makes your day--or makes you want to scrap it and move on. I aim to write thorough reviews and give all the juicy details I can. If you've found my review helpful I would love positive feedback! And if there's any other info I can give you don't hesitate to ask!UPDATE: Thought I'd post an update now that my little one is 6 months old. The stroller has held up beautifully and I wouldn't change a thing about my initial review. I'm appreciating the lightweight, compact design of both the stroller and carseat now that my girl is getting bigger. The only thing that's different is that when she was about 5 months I broke down and bought an additional jog stroller just for fitness walking. As I got back in shape my walks started getting longer and brisker...true, I could've gotten by with just the Alano but I prefer having something where all the wheels don't track together--it makes navigating bumpy terrain easier without breaking my stride. I now keep the Alano in the car and use it primarily for shopping or shorter walking trips as the jog stroller is way too heavy and a PITA to fold and unfold. Wish I could find one thing that could hit all the sweet spots, but I'm still really happy with the versatility of our two-stroller system!

5Great value -very sturdy!
By AlliesMomAK
I purchased these when Amazon had a 20 percent off sale on selected Graco, and I am SO GLAD I did. This particular pattern/color was not available at a retailer in my area, and I am so very happy with the selection I made. The stroller was easy to put together and using the carseat base is a breeze! The basket under the stroller has plenty of room (I even use it for grocery shopping) and my baby sleeps comfortably. One of my best baby purchases by FAR, and the value was unparalled.

5Works great
By ISB
I got this for my first baby. I like the colors and there seems to be enough padding to make my daughter comfortable. I havn't had a problem with the assemply or it holding together. The car seat fits really well in the base and stroller. It isn't that heavy either so I can lift the stroller over my front step with no problem.
